Peruvian Mission Prayers Answered

Hello praying partners,

I want to share with you an report from our trip to Peru, now that we have shared with our church family. (See Link: Peruvian Jungle Mission)

The trip exceeded all our expectations. We conducted 2 medical clinics in Puerto Maldonado (a city of about 180,000 in the jungle). There are two missionaries we know who live in this city who are trying to plant churches there and also reach out into the villages spread throughout the jungles. After these clinics we went up river to conduct three other clinics in different villages. These are certainly more remote places and we were blessed to see God work powerfully.

In one village, I asked the chief if he had any spiritual beliefs. He said, "absolutely." He shared with me a story from his tribe of how the earth was flooded a long time ago, but there was one tree that a family was able to climb. God sent a bunch of animals up the tree too, so they were saved from the flood. At this, I asked if I could share with him a story from a book God gave us, so we can trust it. He was delighted to hear the true flood story and several others. He was already a believer, but had never heard other bible stories other than Jesus. He was overwhelmed with the conviction that his people must be the ones to take these stories to other tribes in the jungles. He pled with us to send teachers to them to share more stories so they can then teach others!

In that same village our team met another man who was very old. This man told stories of how he and his tribesmen used to kill missionaries when they were younger, out of fear. Our team shared Jesus with this murderer, and he trusted in Jesus! This man said that eventually those missionaries who used to come to them, shared their stories, but that they were so complicated and their intent was to change the tribes whole culture to become like them, and so they never liked them. He said we were different. We were there to share good news, not to make them look like us. He also was overwhelmed with conviction and a burden to take this story to the other tribes living in the jungles.

Needless to say, we were blown away with God's powerful work in these men's lives and many others. Continue praying for them and that the local missionaries would be able to disciple them to make disciples of the tribes there in the jungles of Peru and surrounding countries of Brazil, Colombia, and Bolivia.

Thank you so much for your prayers. The team was unified and God moved in and through us, for his glory! Praise HIM!
